Napoli calls Mascherano

<> at Camp Nou on May 19, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.
New Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is interested in signing former player Javier Mascherano.

Rafa Benitez hopes to be re-united at Napoli with former player Javier Mascherano.
The Spanish boss is looking to add plenty of new faces to his new team but speculation has mounted that his top target this summer is Javier Mascherano.
The Argentine used to play under Benitez at Liverpool and enjoyed his time under the Spaniard.
Whether he would be willing leave Barcelona is unknown but Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova is known to rate Mascherano highly and is understood to want to keep the Argentine at the Nou Camp.
A central midfielder is a priority for Benitez at Napoli, and the Spaniard is also known to be interested in Maurone Fellani, although there is reported interest from Manchester United in Fellani.
Benitez is also interested in another former player, with Ramires at Chelsea set to be a target.
It is unknown whether new manager Jose Mourinho will want to keep the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge or look to sell him on.
If they sell him on, Napoli will look to bid for the hard-working midfielder.
Benitez has also been linked with several defenders including former player David Luiz, Martin Skrtel of Liverpool and Thomas Vermalaen of Arsenal.
