Neymar suits Barcelona's style - Pedro
The Blaugrana forward feels the starlet
would fit in well at Camp Nou and suggested the added competition to
make the starting line-up would benefit the team
Barcelona attacker Pedro has lavished praise on Santos prodigy Neymar,
insisting the young star's time to get used to the Catalan side's style
of play would be a short one should he eventually end up representing
the Liga champions. The Brazil international has long been linked with a move to Camp Nou, with others clubs amongst Europe's elite also being touted as potential destinations, and the Spain star feels any competition for starting positions the 21-year-old might bring will be beneficial – even for himself.
“Neymar is a great player,” told a press conference. “If he comes here it’ll be great for the team because it will make us even stronger.
“It means there would be more competition up front, but that’s good to keep on learning.
“I hope he comes. He’ll fit in well here.”
While Neymar may be the highest profile name linked with Barcelona, fans are calling for multiple signings this summer after seeing injuries ravage the Catalans' squad over the course of the 2012-13 season.
“It’s normal that there is talk of reinforcements,” the 25-year-old went on. “Barca need goals and attacking contributions and that’s why every year the forward line is changed.”
On his own career, Pedro admits that his future lies in the club's hands, but would prefer to stay with the Liga champions as he feels he has plenty more to offer.
“My intention is to stay here and be a part of this great club. The decision isn’t down to us, but I hope to get back and feel good again and bring more to the team next season.”
