Polish hitman Robert Lewandowski wants to leave
Borussia Dortmund in summer.
The 24 year-old Polish striker, who made history by becoming the first player since Puskas to score four goals in a Champions League semi-final, had apparently already decided to leave the German outfit.
“Robert wants to leave in the summer,” confirmed his representative, Maik Barthel, just a day after his blistering performance against Real Madrid. In Germany, ‘Bild‘ is speaking about offers of around 25 million euros from Bayern Munich who, 48 hours earlier, confirmed the signing of another Borussia Dortmund star, 20 year-old Mario Götze.
“There is a very interesting offer for Robert, who meets the criteria imposed by Borussia Dortmund in full and which also meets the demands of the player. Borussia has assured us that under these conditions, Robert could switch teams at the end of the season.”
“We are adhering to the agreements, now the clubs must provide some clarity,” said Barthel talking about a ‘supposed agreement’ between the two clubs that should materialize before 15th May in order to become effective.
However, Borussia Dortmund wants to stop its stars from leaving en masse and has therefore decided to improve players’ contracts with a corresponding rise in wages. In fact, the news about Mario Götze leaving the club just hours before the match against Madrid bothered the fans to such an extent that the German club had to ask for respect via the video scoreboards around the stadium. Even Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp admitted his annoyance at the timing of the announcement of Mario Götze’s move to Bayern Munich.
People will be watching to see if Dortmund can keep hold of other stars such as Reus, Gundogan or even Lewandowski himself who could end up with Jose Mourinho at West London club, Chelsea. Fans will also be watching any movement from sports manager Michael Zorc, regarding future signings for the German club.
