Rosell hints move for German defender

The Barcelona president has admitted that he could make a move for a Bundesliga star as rumours over a move for Mats Hummels continue to grow.

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has admitted that there is a German player "he likes" as speculation over a move for Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels intensifies.

The Blaugrana have been linked with a host of defenders across Europe this summer, and although the 49-year-old is remaining tight-lipped, he is in the market for a Mannschaft star.

"There's a German player I like very much, but I can't give his name because if we go for him in the end, his price will go up," the 49-year-old told ZDF.

Rosell went on to say that Pep Guardiola would be successful at Bayern Munich once he takes over in the summer and backed the Bavarians to implement their own version of Barca's La Masia.

"When I heard about the signing, I congratulated Guardiola and [Roten CEO Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge because I think it's the smartest decision for both parties," he continued.

"With patience and if they truly believe in it, Bayern could also implement [a new youth system] successfully. With Guardiola they'll now have someone who will help speed up that process. Pep knows how it works."
