Both Arsenal and Liverpool are
looking towards the transfer window to bolster their attacking units and
the two Premier League giants have identified the same Barcelona
forward for a summer swoop. Rising in the shadows of Lionel Messi,
Cristian Tello has been making a mark at the Camp Nou this season and
Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are prepared to go head-to-head to
snap up the promising forward this summer.
Tello is a product of Barca’s La Masia academy, making his first team debut just last season. And the 21 year-old has remained in the first team this season, although his chances have remained limited with Messi and Pedro taking up the starting berths. The Spaniard has nonetheless impressed greatly, scoring 8 times this season.
The Daily Express revealed that Tello has a paltry £8.5 million release clause in his contract and Arsenal and Liverpool will be keen on taking advantage of the bargain deal. Barca want to increase the buyout clause but his limited first team action does not allow the Catalan giants to profit very much from Tello’s sale.
Rodgers has been scouring the market for promising young players, while Wenger is looking for forward reinforcements after failing with the purchases of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud. Both clubs would be exciting prospects for the upcoming forward, although Tello would prefer a move to Arsenal if the Gunners are involved in Champions League football next term.
