Arsenal are ready to infuriate Barcelona once again after agreeing a deal to pinch another one of their prize youngsters – Julio Pleguezuelo Selva.
The Gunners have poached top talents in the form of Jon Toral, Hector Bellerin and even Cesc Fabregas from Barca’s impressive youth setup in recent years, causing a long-running feud.
But Arsenal are ready to anger their Catalan rivals once again after agreeing a deal to take 15-year-old Selva to the Emirates next term.
A strong central defender who can also play right-back, Selva has been compared to Barcelona captain Carles Puyol, and is seen as a top talent in the Catalan club’s ranks.
However, under Spanish employment law Barca are unable to offer to offer him a contract until next year – meaning Arsenal can snatch him for a minimal compensation fee.
Premier League clubs have continued to take advantage of this ruling in recent years, with several other members of Barca’s ranks also receiving offers from English clubs.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are also thought to be keen on Millwall’s Fred Onyedinma but face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is the latest star to come through the Lions’ academy setup, but after scoring two goals in four matches for the Under-21 teams he seems destined for a move away.
Millwall want around £200,000 in compensation for his services.
