Jorge Messi on his son choice to choose Barcelona instead of Real Madrid

Lionel Messi never even wanted to consider joining Real Madrid when he was a boy and only considered joining Barcelona or a club in Italy.
The Camp Nou superstar’s father, Jorge, revealed a young Lionel had no interest in going to Santiago Bernabeu after deciding to make the switch to Europe.
These comments are likely to delight Barcelona fans, who have seen Messi become the star of a team that has been labelled the greatest club side ever by many.
Jorge Messi was speaking to German magazine Kicker when he revealed his son’s desire to only choose between the vaunted La Masia academy at Barcelona or a Serie A side.
Messi senior also admitted Lionel would have stayed in Argentina with his first club, Newell’s Old Boys, if they has agreed to pay for the growth hormone treatment he needed.
“We sat down as a family to decide whether to go to Barcelona or Italy,” he said.“Leo was excited about going to Barcelona. We never wanted to try Madrid.
“If my son hadn't needed hormonal treatment, we wouldn't have had as much pressure to find a club that would pay for it, which was what eventually made us choose Barça.”
“If Newell's had paid for it, of course he would have stayed there. I demanded Barça tell me what we should do because I was uncertain about my work.
“Leo only had a limited amount of permission from school and couldn't miss any more and we didn't know what the club's plans were.
“I had to sort a lot of things out so I demanded they tell us or, otherwise, we were out. Rexach sent me a letter telling me to keep calm. That everything would be alright.”
It all turned out well in the end for Barcelona and Messi as he became the greatest graduate of La Masia to date and is the catalyst for some of the greatest football ever seen.
